AngloGold Ashanti School (AGA School) Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Financial Secretary Daniel Asare has called on parents, especially those in state schools, not to let the burden of promoting quality education only in government.
Interacting with the media after leading the AGA School PTA to hand over two projects to the school, Mr Asare said that to ensure quality education, parents must play a supporting role to ensure that the government achieves this goal.
The PTA, in its quest to help improve the level of education in the school, has funded the construction of a preschool play center project and a mechanized borehole with a 20,000 m water tank. liters, at a cost of GH 110,000.00?

Mr. Asare said that the main pillars of promoting quality education include, but are not limited to, providing quality teachers, ensuring the use of learning and development facilities professional quality, as well as the creation of safe and conducive quality learning environments for students. Among the pillars, he said, parents have a role to play primarily at home to shape and complement teachers’ efforts.

Contributing to the ongoing debate for parents to support the sustainability of the government’s flagship program, the free high schools policy, Mr Asare said it should be a shared responsibility between government and parents.
He said that by doing so, parents will help break the cycle of poverty and improve the socio-economic development of the nation.
Citing the contribution of parents to the AGA school, he said parents over the years have contributed massively to the quality education of their neighborhoods – the recent among parents was a resolution to contribute GH? Cedis 400 per child per term as facilities maintenance fee for Junior High School which is a public/private partnership of government and AGA.

Mr. Asare called on the school authorities to take care of the facility and make good use of it for the welfare of the students.

The Executive Director of the school, Mr. Simon Peter Atta Cato, commended the PTA for their cooperation and contribution over the years to quality education.
He underlined the strategic nature of the two projects, stating that “this modern playground comes at the right time; at a time when children will need a safe and healthy environment to play. The borehole will also ensure a constant water supply to the school. “
