A. Narayanaswamy inaugurates Ambedkar Center of Excellence at Central Karnataka University in Kadaganchi on the outskirts of Kalaburagi
“If the education we receive does not help the society to progress, such education is useless,” said Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, A. Narayanaswamy.
He was addressing a rally after the inauguration of the Dr. Ambedkar Center of Excellence, which was established with the assistance of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at the Central University of Karnataka, Kadaganchi, in the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Monday.
The minister said that the education system has been captured by the upper caste in such a way that it is very difficult for people from scheduled castes and other reserved categories to invade and make their way. Social ostracism from Scheduled Castes is still rampant in society even after 75 years years of independence. This discrimination is so systemic and institutionalized that it is difficult for students from disadvantaged neighborhoods to survive and pursue their academic passion.
Although the architect of the Constitution BR Ambedkar has included a reservation in the Constitution to ensure that all people enjoy equal rights without any discrimination, the minister said, there is still no reservation in many institutions, including the Supreme Court and the defense sector.
Expressing his displeasure over this, the Minister said that a very small number of students from universities in South India are admitted to top institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
Emphasizing that education is simply not about accumulating information and knowledge through books, Mr. Narayanaswamy said there is no point in getting an education unless you acquire a bit of knowledge in outside of textbooks and curricula to become lifelong learners. At the same time, educational institutions and universities should focus on providing quality education, he added.
He called on students not to go to universities just to get a degree, but should hone their skills to take the next step. Mr. Narayanaswamy called on students from disadvantaged communities to come forward and benefit from education to create a life that gives real peace to parents. He advised Scheduled Caste students to take advantage of the coaching courses provided at the Dr. Ambedkar Center of Excellence at Central University.
KKRDB Chairman and MLA Dattatreya Patil Revoor said Central University has played a vital role in eradicating regional disparities in higher education. On the occasion, Mr. Revoor hailed the decision of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the significant contribution of the BJP government led by the BJP government in empowering disadvantaged communities by increasing the reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of 15% to 17% and 3% to 7%, respectively. .
Kalyana Karnataka Human Resources, Agriculture and Culture Association President Basavaraj Patil Sedam and Central University Vice Chancellor Battu Satyanarayana also spoke on the occasion.
Mr. Narayanaswamy also inaugurated two 100-bed capacity hostels for girls and boys, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and one hostel sponsored by the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Council.
