ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prof. Zia Ul-Qayyum, Vice-Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), has said that the COVID-19 pandemic has posed a serious threat to the education system worldwide and digitalization teaching and examination systems. is the only panacea to the problem of the continuation of the educational system during the current pandemic.
He was addressing the opening ceremony of a two-day training workshop hosted by the Department of Distance, Non-Formal and Continuing Education here on Tuesday for faculty members and administrative staff who have recently been appointed/promoted in various AIOU departments.
Professor Zia informed the participants that all administrative, financial and academic operations of the university have recently been digitized.
Vice-Chancellor AIOU said the university’s adoption of new technologies has not only helped the continuation of all educational activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, but also streamlined them.
Prof. Dr. Mehmood ul Hassan Butt, former Vice Chancellor of AIOU, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mehmood, Dean of Education Faculty and other senior officers, while addressing the gathering, urged teachers and newly inducted officers to work with total dedication and assist the university in educating the masses of the country.
The heads of the various administrative and service departments made presentations on their relevant departments on this occasion.
Dr. Ajmal, Chair of the Department of Distance, Non-Formal and Continuing Education, explained the objectives of the two-day workshop and thanked and welcomed all participants, especially the Vice-Chancellor, deans and department heads.
