George Kwaku Rickets Hagan, MP for Cape Coast South
Cape Coast South (MP) MP George Kwaku Rickets Hagan challenged the government to stop playing politics with the country’s education system and instead work closely with lawmakers, whatever their affiliation policy, to help address the declining standards of education in Ghana.
“Education is not about the NDC, NPP, PPP or any other political party, but only about the children and the citizens of this country. It is rather unfortunate that this is an area with which we do politics, ”lamented the legislator.
According to him, “we have turned around in education in many ways, at the end of the day, we politicians make a decision and hand it over to the leadership of the Ghana Education Service to manage and implement it. “.
The legislator has called on the Cape Coast Metropolitan Education Authority to present GH¢20,000 to the administration to address some of the challenges facing the service.
He also discussed education issues in his constituency to enable him to help improve education standards following reports of recent downward trends.
“We all know the challenges you are going through including; extracurricular activities such as the organization of fictitious and other activities. When I was young, simulation was not run by Metro Education, but today the school does not have the capacity in terms of resources to do these things,” he admitted.
He noted that Ghana is a relatively poor country so the development of the country cannot be left in the hands of a few people, commending the Cape Coast Metropolitan Education Authority for the good job they are doing. for schools to operate effectively.
The Metropolitan Director of Education, Madame Dorcas Asare, thanked the MP for his kind gesture to improve education in the region and promised to use the money for the intended purpose.
