Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Otoo, the Most Outstanding Teacher of 2021, urged postgraduate students, education think tanks and citizens to play their respective roles in transforming education in Ghana.

He said the current educational system where professionals and statesmen had become shy to express ideas that could help the nation must be abandoned.

Mr. Otoo said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during the Sixth Multidisciplinary International Conference for Postgraduate Students at Winneba in the Central Region.

The event was organized by the University of Education, Winneba Chapter of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG).

It was on the theme: “Change and digital transformation in the new normal; The role of postgraduate students.
Mr. Otoo said that society must be endowed with authentic education to bring about a better future and a safer environment.

He said postgraduate students have provided technical support to education which has contributed to the socio-economic transformation of the country.

He said education systems around the world are taking advantage of the growing climate of innovation and creativity while keeping up with the evolution of the new normal society.

“The progress of changes in digital transformation today, especially in countries with growing youth populations, will encourage global connectivity and responsible citizenship, develop human capabilities and support their transition to an economy based on knowledge,” he noted.

Contemporary education has moved from a teacher-centric to a learner-centric approach, and this innovative digital application in the sector has grown in importance to support learners and teachers in the necessary transformation, said Mr. Otoo.

There was therefore a need for postgraduate students to adopt 21st century skills in problem solving, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking to facilitate national growth, he said.

“Studies show that in this information age society, information and communication technologies can help increase engagement, motivation and participation in all spheres of production and service delivery. services, so everyone should be ICT-aware to facilitate their work,” he said.

Mr. Otoo said every nation expected its graduates to introduce magic that would increase productivity and creativity in the working environment.

“Let’s accept non-political suggestions and criticism to fix our education,” he said.
